FAQ

General Questions

Does my eSIM come with a phone number or SMS?

No. The eSIMs we currently sell are data only.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card that allows you to activate a cellular plan without using a physical SIM card. It's built into your device and can be programmed remotely.

Can I use more than one eSIM when traveling abroad?

Yes, iPhones can store ~10 eSIMs, and Androids can store 5-7 eSIMs. Only one or two eSIMs can be active at a time, so other eSIMs on the device remain installed, but have an inactive status until you need to switch.

Pro Tip: Give each eSIM a label to avoid confusion.

Can I use a physical SIM (my home number) and eSIM together?

Yes. On dual-SIM devices, you can use both a physical SIM or eSIM (your home number) and an additional eSIM simultaneously.

You can:

  • Choose which SIM is used for cellular data

  • Set your default voice line

Recommended setup:

  • Turn off data roaming for your home SIM

  • Turn on Wi-Fi Calling (if supported by your home carrier)

This allows your home number to remain reachable worldwide via Wi-Fi or through your data-only eSIM.

Can multiple phones scan the same QR code?

No, each QR code can be scanned by a unique device ID once and cannot be transferred to another device later.

Compatibility & Activation

Is my device compatible with eSIM?

Most newer smartphones support eSIM technology, including: iPhone XS and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and later. Check your device settings to confirm eSIM compatibility.

How do I activate my eSIM?

After purchase, you'll receive a QR code via email. Go to your device's cellular settings, select "Add Cellular Plan" or "Add eSIM," and scan the QR code to activate.

Should I switch on “Data Roaming” when using eSIM?

Yes, turn on data roaming for your eSIM and turn off roaming for your home SIM to avoid high charges. Go to “Settings” > “Cellular” > “Data Roaming.” This is a requirement.

What is the validity of your eSIMs?

Currently, our eSIMs are valid for 180 days prior to activation. After activation, the plan is valid for the length of the purchased plan. eSIM validity is extended with each top up.

Can I reinstall an eSIM after it is already deleted from my device?

An eSIM CAN be reinstalled from the same QR code it was installed with, in the case it was deleted. The eSIM cannot, however, be transferred to another device using the same QR code.

Coverage & Data Plans

Which countries are covered?

Our eSIM plans cover over 190 countries worldwide. Search our product page for specific country availability.

When does my plan start?

Your plan activates when you first connect to a supported network in your destination country, not when you purchase or install the eSIM.

Can I use my eSIM in multiple countries?

Yes! Our regional and global plans work across multiple countries, making them perfect for multi-destination trips.

Does my eSIM support hotspot, tethering, or data sharing?

Yes. All of our eSIMs have enabled hotspot data sharing with other devices, per the device manufacturer's allowances.

To enable, follow this video guide for iOS or this Android guide. On iOS, APNs are preconfigured except for Japan (set APN to be “vmobile.jp”). For Android use the eSIM APN password of the eSIM to ensure connectivity.
